I am 23 weeks pregnant... and I just started getting upper back pain. I already experience lower back pain, which I know is normal. But now the upper back pain is really starting to get to me.Because I don't understand why I am having it. And its making it impossible to sleep on my sides. Because my back is so uncomfortable the whole time. So now I am barely sleeping each night. Is anyone experiencing upper or lower back pain? What helped (if anything)???

  3. Try chiropractic care, pregnancy massage, and pre-natal yoga.  Because your abdominal muscles are all stretched out, they're not working as hard as they normally do to support your body - especially your core. So...your back muscles are having to make up for your abs and work much harder.  Also, your shifting center of gravity and increased breast weight puts more strain on your back. That's why it hurts.

I'm 20 weeks along, and my lower back is really bugging me now.  I injured my neck and my lower back several years ago in a car accident, but maintaining strong abs and a strong core has kept me from having chronic back pain. However, during pregnancy, I can't keep up the intense abdominal workout...so my back is now annoying the c**p out of me. I've been doing prenatal yoga the past few weeks and it has really helped loosen those tight muscles.  Also...my awesome husband gave me a gift certificate for a pregnancy massage. It's fantastic!

  4. I AM 34 WEEKS PREG AND SO FAR WALKING AROUND FOR A FEW MINUTES HAS BEEN KNOWN TO HELP BUT WHAT REALLY HELPS IS SITTING UP IN A ROCKING CHAIR. MOST OF THE TIME I SIT THERE UNTIL I AM SO TIRED AND THEN I CLIMB IN TO BED AND FALL FAST ASLEEP. ITS TOUGH BUT JUST THINK THE RESULTS ARE GREAT! GOOD LUCK

  5. Try going to a chiropractor or getting a prenatal massage. I love my chiropractor, he is my life saver (as well as being pg I also have scoliosis, my discs are degenerating, and just normal back probs from horseback riding). Also your back may be knotting up and a massage might help. Good Luck and Congrats.

Edit: You may need to check with your ob before going to the chiropractor or getting a massage.
