Im 16 and getting my instruction permit today. (Hopefully) I was told I have to wait a month and half or so until I can take the driving test itself. After this do I have to wait 6 months to drive alone? Or at 16, can I get an intermediate liscene and be able to drive freely w/o and adult?

  1. It is much clearer when you go straight to the DFA websites.

From the Arkansas Office of Driver Services website:

"All persons 14 to 18 years of age must hold an A restriction (adult in car) for a minimum of 6 months before driving unrestricted. The six month time period begins on the date the person passes the written exam (the date the learners permit is issued by the state police examiner)."

  2. I got my permit oddly enough, one week ago to the day, and I live in Arkansas. I was told that I would have to wait one month to take my driving test. A friend who got his liscence told me that you get your permit, then you can take your driving test at any time during the six months that your permit is valid. Then, at the end of that six months, you get your liscence. Note: You can get your liscence 6 months after you get your PERMIT, not take the driving test.
