What fund family are they associated with? (For example, Edward Jones Investments deals with American Funds).

  1. Raymond James enjoys a well earned reputation, it's been a member of the exchange for many years.

Most major brokerage firms sell all mutual fund companies.

  2. Raymond James will have selling agreements with many mutual fund companies.  Edward Jones is no different, they probably deal with over 100 mutual fund companies, and thousands of individual fund, but you broker may choose to deal with only a couple.

Monringstar.com will list what companies a particular mutual fund has selling agreements with under the purchase info tab on the left of the screen.  You can also contact Raymond James for a complete list of fund companies they deal with.

Raymond James is one of the biggest independent Broker Dealers and has a good reputation.  Like any organization they have great advisors and bad ones, it more about the individual person you will be working with than the firm they work for.

  3. Sorry Shakespeare don't know a thing about investment brokerage. Be careful though, a world recession is already in place and I believe it is too risky to invest in stocks. I believe the wise thing to do at the moment is  to invest in real estate  as it has gone down drastically, especially in Ireland and in the UK, one is never wrong investing in property.

  4. Raymond James is as good as any other brokerage firm. While the firm itself is solid, it is very important that you trust the person with whom you are dealing. Even the best firms employ some people who are not so much motivated by your success but rather their own success, which comes in the form of commissions and fees you pay.

You can find a list of Raymond James' funds on http://www.raymondjames.com/about/subsid... under "Asset Management". (The "Eagle" funds are different from "First Eagle" funds, which have an outstanding track record. - I own the First Eagle International.)

Financial advisers are obligated to recommend any fund that is suitable for you, but that is not always the case in reality. When you chose a financial adviser go with a person that has been recommended to you or go with your instincts.
