Question:

Is anyone familiar with downloading torrent files?

I'm kind of new to it, I've been using limewire but it sucks. So from watching tutorials on youtube and stuff I've been trying to download the files with the most seeds, because it's faster. But it doesn't even matter how many seeds it has, it just won't download. When it shows up on BitTorrent, it says it has no seeds. The status says downloading, but obviously not.

Please help, and please don't make fun of me just because I can't figure it out on my own, thanks!

  1. Make sure your firewall isn't blocking the Bittorrent program you're using. Either turn off your firewall or make sure your firewall sets your Bittorrent program as an exception.

Other than that, IF you're behind a router, you have to make sure the router doesn't block the traffic by opening a few ports. Open the ports 6881-6999, TCP, and forward them to your computers IP addres.

A guide of how to do that can be found here for almost every router: http://portforward.com/

    Good luck!

  2. You got one point right - number of seed doesn't matter. It is the number of connection that does the trick.

If you cannot connect to anybody, you just won't download anything.

Remember, seed is no different than you, except they have the complete file, you don't. They can go offline anytime just like you.

And another thing, there are more than one torrent site and there also should have more than one torrent file that download the same thing. Just try another torrent.
