I am working on a degree at Weber State University in Early Childhood. I was reading somewhere about CDA (Childhood Development Assosciation) credentials....with a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood, would I need a CDA or would I be marketable with just the degree? Thanks!

  1. Ummmmm .... isn't it against the law in Utah to put preschoolers to work??

  2. I think you can go ahead with the degree that you have, but you should talk to preschools in the area that you would like to teach so that you can get a better idea of what they are looking for.

  3. I actually got my degree in Early Childhood Education at Weber State, too.  The only preschool teaching I did was my student teaching in the Melba Lehner School on campus, but I went on to teach Kindergarten in Weber District.  As far as I know, I would think you would be marketable with your degree, but I'd call around to a few preschools and ask what kind of credentials they are looking for.  Obviously, the more the better, but I don't think they expect more than a degree.
