  1. Check with management associations in your area. A company I previously worked for (now belly up if that's any indication of the success of 6 sigma) trained several individuals and the feedback was across the board. This process (six sigma) is applicable to production where quantitative models dictate but has limitations where models are random, i.e. service industry. The result I noticed the most (service industry) was the confusion and disruption during and after implementation in the lower to mid level workers. They did not understand the process and thus did not support it (maybe common sense). My opinion only. Good Luck.

  2. six sigma is a term used to describe a very high degree of precision.  Six sigma refers to six standard deviations from the mean.  In process control this means that 1 product in 1 million will have a defect.

I don't know of this as a course

  3. Six sigma is a quality control program.  When I was at IBM they went through that fad along with a few others.  As usual, as soon as the quality program needed time that might affect the schedule, then it wan't important any more.

I don't know of any certifcation for this - that doesn't mean there isn't such a think.
