Is anyone freaking sad that the Olympics are going to be over in a couple days?

Reasons why I'm sad:

- The closing ceremonies are freaking heart breaking. Flame goes out, no more summer Olympics until 2012.

- Gymnastics is over. The champions gala was like a farewell to a lot of those competitors. (h**l, Phelps and the gymnastics team won't even be there, they're home already!)

- Nastia will probably retire before 2012, so we only got a small sample of the legendary family. Alicia is done with gymnastics.

- Phelps. Need I say more?

-London won't even be able to come close to the show Beijing put on.

I would liken it to a summer camp your parents sent you to when you were a kid. It was 2 weeks of fun and getting to meet new people and then it's over and you never see them again.

But that's why the Olympics are so great. It's once every 4 years. They come into our lives at different chapters and there is always new faces and people.

So ya. I'm effing sad that the Olympics are over.

  1. Agreed with the bit about the closing ceremony

One thing thats great is not only the sports it's the togetherness and the friendly competition. A rare chance to see the world as one and a bronze or silver can mean a gold for some of the smaller countries and seeing the best like Phelps and Bolt excel in their expected champion stature. Even if you don't win a medal you've added to the Olympics and being there is rewarding enough. Seeing the host country open up to the world, places you may not have seen before. All adds to a special time

A world cup is ok, winter olympics is ok but the summer Olympics are special more than anything else. Only 24 hours to go before the end of the summer games. I'm excited about the closing ceremony yet know it's going to be a touch of sadness about it

EDIT: After watching the closing ceremony i feel better. It's like closure

  2. I will miss the Olympics too, but I am glad I will finally be getting some sleep. ;o)

  3. I'll have nothing watch all day / all night. Totally lame.

  4. At least I'll get more sleep.  Olympics are better when they are in the same hemisphere.

  5. When there is no ending, there is no beginning so we prefer to end it fast and has a fast beginning of new ideas & new happenings in London for us to see a brand new version of 30th Olympic Games in 2012.  The preview of London Games this Sunday, an item in the Closing Ceremony will lift up our expectation for more or less.

Make sure you watch the 1st YOG in 2010 in Singapore and that is where the London & Beijing Teams will be displaying in full force their new young competitors ready to take on the London Olympics with Team Singapore, no doubt about it.

Should not be sad but be HAPPY for new things to COME.

  6. Relax dude, the winter olympics are in Vancouver in 2010.

  7. No I'm actually not.

After 2 years the world cup is coming.

  8. No I am not sad, and 4 years interval is quite good considering all the money and resources they put in. It not a cheap event.

  9. I'll miss seeing that bela karolyi commentor guy.he is hilarious...and yeah, phelps, too...but phil dalhausser is my personal favorite:) I'll miss his sexiness the most.

  10. Yea. I really enjoy the Olympics too.

  11. YES!!! I love having sports on demand whenever i want! And I'm to cheap to pay for Foxtel so once they are over I'm going to have to settle for watching boring lame sports once every blue moon.

  12. Yeah I am totally sad.... but its kind of okay... I have a ton of tapes and DVDs of the time I was at work so I still have a ton to watch so it will go on for me for weeks.. hehe.. and then I have four years to wear out those tapes and then make new ones... YEAH! :)

  13. Yea there won't be much to watch anymore and no excuse to stay up till midnight anymore. But it was fun while it lasted. And I'll enjoy the last few days as much as I can. Too bad I only saw the first like 20 minutes of the opening ceremony.

  14. yeah, i wont have a good reason to stay up till 3am any more

  15. Yes, I feel sad. I will miss having the events to watch on tv. What will I watch now that there'll be no more olympic events after Sunday????? Not to mention that there were a lot of events that were not aired on NBC, such as wrestling, rhythmic gymnastics, etc.  There was too much beach volleyball on NBC, and not enough of other sports. What a disappointment.

  16. yes me because its the only time that all countries can work together to bring such beauty

  17. I thought I was the only person that was seriousley sad yesterday during the closing ceremony! I mean, now that I was on vacation from school, I would watch the olympics all morning and stay up till 2:30 am, watching them at night, too. I dont know why, but there is always that feeling..I dont know how to explain it but it's kind of like "man, they barely started and now it's already over" or " now we have to wait for four more years..". I guess I just get sad because I start wondering "Will they be back in four years? Will it be the same?"..

It wont feel the same in four years.. and there is no way anyone can compare with the show China put on! It was awesome!! =]

  18. meh I might get some Uni assignments done now =)

  19. I know right, I'm so sad. If I had a chance I'll watch it all over again. I really missed the swimming and gymnastics.

  20. Ya it will be sad. It was sad when Phelps was done with all his races... I was so into whether or not he was going to win, I was kind of bored after he stopped racing... but ill still miss the rest of the olympics! It was fun

  21. iim sadd ; i dont want them to end !

its soo cool having the world come together to compete with the best of the best ! its so exciteing, but hey, what can i do about it !

2012 will be here before you know it ..=/
