You won't have any trouble making friends.  But if you want to see who else is sailing with you, go to CruiseCritic.com, click on "Boards", then "Roll Call", then your ship/date.  You will have to join CC in order to access that board, but it's free.

I just got back on Sunday from the Carnival Conquest, it was alot of fun.  There are several places where you  can go find other people going on the same cruise as you are.  The forums on carnivalconnections.com, go to cruise talk and then scroll down and find the conquest.  And the other site was mentioned by another poster.

Be careful in Jamaica it is a poor country and I have heard stories of bad things happening to people.  Your best bet is to book an excursion through Carnival.  If you do wonder off port, then be very careful.  I have heard that they will try to sell you drugs, they will try to drag women into shed and rape them, and saw others posting about possible kidnappings.  They are very pushy in trying to get you to buy their stuff as well, we just kinda ignored them.  But if  you want to buy something ask the price up front and then if you don't like it then try to nego.  

Grand Caymen and Mexico are both very nice and all shopping is right near the port.
