Is anyone going to buy GM?

I'm sure you know that General Motors' market value is currently 6 Billion. Which is absolutely peanuts compared to the three large Japanese car manufacturing conglomerates, Toyota, Honda and Nissan. So is any of them interested and able to buy GM? If not, why not?

  1. I think GM makes really decent cars. I never had any major problems with it. Right now i have a Chevy Malibu that i got at 27000 miles and it has 90000miles on it now, and its running like a champ. I will absolutely buy a Chevy again in few years. Cars are inexpensive, they run great, and its inexpensive to fix.

  2. GM is saddled with debt and they are losing millions more every day.  The Japanese are already extremely successful in the U.S. market, so why would they want the overhead of acquiring General Motors? If you acquire GM you also acquire the union strong employees.

GM bonds are trading at 50 cents on the dollar right now.

The bond markets are a great indicator of a company's ability to pay their debt.  Anything under 75 is "stay away" territory.
