Is anyone here following the Olympic Equestrian events?

Do to work and the apparent disinterest of NBC to broadcast the olympic equestrian events I am left to random photos and minor snippets of news. My question involves the ride of Brazil's Saolo Tristo and his horse Totsie. http://sports.yahoo.com/rah/photo?slug=3ee14af0c2269c38902817ad025cd59d-getty-oly-2008-equestrian-bra&prov=getty This photo and the rather lacking caption below it peaked my interest, is this a disobedience, the world's worst levade, or was the photo snapped as his horse transitioned from levade into courbette or capriole? If this is intentional, how on earth did he manage to place the airs above ground in a modern dressage test? Was this taken during the musical kur? I'm curious and a bit frustrated with being deaf and blind as to the progress of the equestrian competitions in Hong Kong, any info you can provide is appreciated.

  1. No,, it is not a a trick horse,, He was being a Bad boy !! Or  +++

The stress finally caught up to the rider and was pushing him too HARD,,

Remember Lil ,AMANDA G, that a horse rears for two reasons

No place to go , Meaning he was asking and was not giving him a place to go,( mixed signals )

or The horse was just plain, Sick and Tired of the riders stress and his!

From the look at the horse's Eyes,, and the rider half laughing .

This horse has done this before ! The rider is in Perfect form, for a rear! ,and is not Scared ,, I Bet he was  about to do something the horse is not good at and he was refusing .. Just like a Jumper would!

A Dressage horse at  his level, Knows that's the only way to say to the rider, screw__ you !!

Do You think !      I do

They do Not do those other movements in the Olympics, the  Lavade E.T.C.

Those movements are Not recognized ,, In F,D A,

Any way thats what I see !!

P.S. HAVE you seen the pix's on the Italian female rider?

That horse is so bad and she 's not even sitting INTO , the saddle she is just riding on top, Notice the riders form compared to the one rearing.

Notice the big muscles along side of his Jaw  or jowl!

Thats a very bad sign,  Did you know that ,, it means he pulls allot,

One more thing,  Olympics riders are not the best in the world

    Many people think so ,,

There are better ones , that just chose to become Pro's.

  2. Amanda, the horse obviously had spooked at something and was acting up because of it. The rider is actually lucky the horse didn't go all the way up and throw him off backwards- I have seen that happen, and this kid had no helmet on to protect his head.  The "airs above the ground" are NOT used in Olympic competition, and especially not in the dressage portion of the 3 Day Event, which is when these photos were taken. The regular Dressage competition doesn't even start until Friday, so there's no way that these pictures could have been taken during a musical freestyle, or KEUR, as it is correctly called and spelled.

At any rate, the winners of the competition have already been decided- and Germany has won the gold in both the individual and team competition. Heinrich Romeike is the individual gold medalist, followed closely by his teammate, Ingrid Klimke, who won the silver. The USA finished 7th as a team, and our top finisher was Gina Miles, who finished 5th. Amy Tryon and Karen O'Connor were eliminated for refusals and a fall, respectively. With Eventing over and done with for these Games, the focus now shifts to the Show Jumping and Dressage competitions. We have a strong team in Show Jumping, and hopefully, they will be able to do better than our eventers did. I am not as sure about dressage- I think Germany and Holland pretty well have a lock on those medals, and it's going to be even odds as to which one of these two nations will prevail in the end. The best the US can hope for there is a bronze, and that's only going to happen with a LOT of LUCK.

We shall see what happens. If you want live updates, go to the website of the Chronicle of the Horse- they are featuring coverage of all the events for free, to anyone who visits the site, throughout the whole Games. The address is www.chronofhorse.com.
