Are you involved in S611?

Bill S611 Passed!

March 3, 2008:

31 yes - 7 No.

NJ Senate, 3RDG Final Passage.

This bill DOES have a contact veto and that saddens me. Yes its an advancement for some NJ adoptees. I hope to see the amount of support they got for it, in the states with clean bills like Michigan. I hope that Adam Pertman flys into Michigan along side of DMC and they rock the house for this years only bill that restores equality to all of the states adoptees.

Excited for those who are one step closer to getting their records :D

You can listen to their past testimonies in house herehttp://www.njleg.state.nj.us/media/archive_audio2.asp?KEY=SHH&SESSION=2008

You can read the html format of the current bill here.

  1. Woooo hooooooo!!!! great news.  That's 4 States in the past year, isn't it, more than ever before.

So guys, 43 States to go?  roll your sleeves up - Adoptees will have equal rights this century and stop having to live in the past century

  2. Gershom,

Thanks for the info.  It is important to note as well that this isn't just for NJ citizens - at least the way I read it.  This is for any adoptee who was born in NJ.  Our son was born in NJ but doesn't currently live there.  He should be able to get his OBC after he turns 18 if he chooses (at least that is what I took from this).

    Good info.  Thanks for sharing.
