  1. He's an awesome tragic character, just so great to read about!

    ♥M♥

  2. YES; i was with him in the book BEFORE the movie. <3

  3. I totally am too!!

  4. are u a christian? i am too if u are...i like eric but he's like heck..

  5. Back in 1990, a high school friend became absolutely obsessed with Erik. (Mind you, this was before the 2004 movie version was made, but she loved the story, the musical, the characters...)

She bought all the available books that dealt with the "Phantom" story. She pictured herself as Christine and longed to be seduced by the dark and mysterious Phantom with the broken soul(played by Michael Crawford at that time.)

However, over time, her obsession died as she watched me play out a real life "Christine." I fell in love with a mysterious man with a broken soul. My friend could only watch helplessly as, after I married him, his "mask" came off and we could see the truly ugly side to him, the broken and jealous side that I wanted to mend but it nearly ended my life.

The similarities of the brokenness and violent jealousy between Erik and my husband was creepy, to say the least. It is everything that does not belong in any healthy relationship.

I am now married to a different man (you could say he's my Raoul). My friend still very much likes the story of "Phantom" but is a great deal wiser about fantasy romance and what all is involved.

I know this is a bit more than you were asking for, but I do advise you to keep your reality eyes open and while it's okay to fantasize and "fall in love" with story characters, be careful that you do not become the character in real life unless the character is on a healthy and happy track.

The character that I followed was Sara from the movie Labyrinth. She was seduced temporarily by Jareth. (I was in love with Jareth.) Different character altogether, I know, but same seclusive jealousy. Although I was "Sara", my friend saw me as "Christine." I lived out the part that would have happened if Sara and Christine stayed with their seducers.

  6. I'm not familiar with his name being Erik, you most likely read the book which is probably very good. I saw the Andrew Loyd Webber's musical version rendition in New York at the Majestic Theater on Broadway and I also got to see it in Vegas because my dad was on of the architects working on the theater and chandelier's design. So yeah I would say I am in love with him lol......the movie version sucked in comparison to the play
