My boyfriend wants to join in the future. I am worried that he will get hurt. If you are in the UFC how much do you make and how dangerous do you think it is?

  1. yeah i am, im that one guy who fights for the UFC sometimes, at pay per views, and stuff.

come on seriously if youre a professional fighter would you be on here right now or would you be training since its your job?

  2. i dont think you "join", you have to get noticed and move up, and seeing how the UFC is the biggest of the fighting organizations, he would have to be really good(not saying hes not)

The fight purses in the UFC are listed in wikipedia for specific UFC events, and unless your ranked high and fighting contenders and going for the belt...chances are your not making a killing in these fights...

so if your not  main car fighter your getting anywhere from 2500 to 5000 depending on a win or loss...thats not that good when you consider training months for that and not fighting again for a few months...but with that said, the good fighters do make good money (10-50) sometimes even 100 thousand depending on the fight (main event) and the fighter(belt holder, title defense)...

Also i personally dont think MMA is as dangerous as hockey, football, basketball, etc when your talking about injuries...think about acl's, mcl's, sprains, breaks, hamstring tears, etc...its just less frequent because a fighter is trained not only to fight but to take care of their body as well

  3. ultimate fighting championship, not competition

  4. It's not like joining the Army or something. Very few make it pro in MMA. Most get KOed and quit. and Yes he will get hurt

  5. Its as dangerous as Boxing and football.

  6. My membership expired but I'm renewing next month.

  7. It's extremely hard to get into the ufc, I think you mean amature shows. The fighter pays are determined by how good you are. But in the little shows he'll make less than a thousand a fight

  8. Im not

  9. Yes. I am. :D

  10. The UFC itself is hard to get into.  His best shot would be trying out for the Ultimate Fighter show, or trying to rack up 5 or so amateur victories and then 7 or eight wins and few losses in B level shows like King of the Cage or Gladiator's Challenge or Strikeforce.

MMA is definitely a contact sport and broken noses, hands, arms, and jaws are injuries to look out for as well as thousands of bruises and just waking up in the morning really wishing you had a gentler hobby.

That being said, it is way safer than boxing or football, so it could be worse.

Lastly, try not to worry.  It's a guy thing.  Some of us just need to punch other people in the face.  If you let it, watching him fight might just touch something primal in you, and then you two are in for some wild nights.  ;)
