  1. I'm a member, but I dont play because I believe I'm too old, anyway, I know that the USTA helps all members young and old to try to accomplish their goals, but honestly I have no idea of the expense, but I ASSUME that tennis is quite spendy, but again USTA could help in that dept. You would have to further investigate.  $18.00 a year is not much,. but what do you get for it????  That is the question.  Unfortunately, I have no clue.....but good luck friend!

  2. I've been a USTA member for a few years now. Actually I'm in the CTA which is a division of the USTA (CTA is Colorado Tennis Asssociation). What happens is that they allow you to play in tourneys and there is a fee to enter the tournaments. The lower "satillitte" tournaments are pretty cheap in my mind. About $10-$25 usually. Then there are the bigger tournamants that usually cost around $25-$100 (depending on how many points are awarded for rankings). I play 18s Singles and 18s doubles and since you're 16 you can play on both the 16s satillitte and 16s regular, but the regular is a lot harder. I think it was well worth it because it allowed me to improve my skills and fill my room with trophies :D

  3. depends, where you live...but in texas its like 20-40 dollars a tournament...pluse lots of gasm and a hotel
