I just have to say..........How terrible for those souls. You are doing a wonderful thing for those people and thier families. I will send positive thoughts your way in trying to make this happen. I don't think you are really asking too much either.  I'll send a bunch of people to this sight so they can also see what is going on.

She's right, state historical society is a great route!  Also, see what the National Historical Landmarks (http://www.nps.gov/history/nhl/) is a great place to at.  If you fear that your efforts might not be working.  Check into findagrave.com and try to catalog everything.  At least the information will be preserved if all else fails.
