Looking at the offensive side of the ball, while their quarterback situation appears to be iffy, their running game looked good last night. Not sure about their defense and special teams.

  1. No offensive line.  Offensive line is the key.

  2. well, it's the pre-season and you can't really get much out of a pre-season game, unless all the starters play, which usually doesn't happen.

  3. I'm not. They will get beat twice by the chiefs.

  4. I can appreciate that Raider fans love their team and have no problem going down with a sinking ship.  But let's be realistic for a moment and review what would have to happen for the Raiders to make the playoffs:

    A.  The Raiders would have to win the AFC West.  And that just ain't gonna happen with the SAN DIEGO CHARGERS running the table as the 2nd ranked team in the AFC behind the Patriots (don't forget they beat Indy the last 3 times they played them and eliminated them from the playoffs last year!)

    B.  The Raiders would have to make the playoffs as a wildcard.  Which means they would have to have at least a 10-6 record and edge out other potential wildcard teams like Jacksonville, Tennesee, Cleveland, and possibly even Cincinati.

So the bottom line is that unless you think the Raiders have what it takes to win more than 10 games and de-throne the San Diego Chargers as AFC West Champions, or at the very least make it in as a #2 wildcard behind the teams I just mentioned, then it's just not going to happen my friend.  Sorry.

  5. The Raiders were a very bad team last year.  I don't think any improvements that they may have made will be enough to get them to the playoffs in the AFC.

It's pretty safe to start out by saying that the Raiders are unlikely to be better than the Patriots or Colts.  Then we know that there are teams like the Bengals, Steelers, Jaguars, and Titans that have the pieces to make the playoffs.

The Browns have shown flashes of playoff-worthy football.  The Jets appear to be trying to turn things around.  The Bills have some pieces in place to try to finish above .500.

Even among the bad teams, the Dolphins have probably made more improvements than the Raiders.

It would be hard for me to imagine the Raiders even coming close to a .500 record this year -- certainly not the playoffs.

  6. One thing the Raiders have had a problem w/ the past few seasons is offense. Now if we switch our concern 2 defense over 2 offense then maybe we can go .500

  7. They could suprise a lot of people this year. Personally I think they should return to the college aspect of football and run the option every other play. Can you imagine it with Russel, McFadden, and Fargus? It would be good for this team, because their passing game is kind of hurting...

  8. After looking at their starters last night I think they have some problems.  The biggest one is their receivers need to start catching passes.  If they can get it together they certainly have the talent to go far.

  9. Lol no this is just the preseason and as soon as the regular season starts back to losing they go

  10. They wont

  11. me = VERY OPTIMISTIC!!!

  12. ill give them the benefit of the doubt. they will go 5-11. no way will they make the playoffs.

  13. i hope they do something but when they play the chiefs well, it will be a sad loss. GO CHEIFS!
