I'm 21, 5-8 and over 300 pounds. I have tried unsucessfully for over 7 years to lose weight. The past 6 months I have spent at least 5 days a week at the gym, doing cardio(the eliptical) weight training and using the rowing machine. I have also cut out most carbs(all bad, i only eat whole wheat, and really only everyother day) and eat mostly lean protien and a lot of veggies and fruits. I have not lost more than 5 pounds in the last 6 months. Im sick of people just saying to cut down on the food(because I have a lot) and exercise and the weight will come off because it hasn't. Im thinking of getting a lapband on my stomach. My father even said to me he thinks i should go on diet pills, like trimspa or another diet pill thats not that healthy. Its getting really aggrevating because I am doing everything I can possibly think of to lose this weight. Can anyone give me any other ideas?

  1. Have you been to an endocrinologist? It might be hormonal. I was almost 200lbs (5'1") I had been exercising and on a strict diet, and still gained weight. Nothing was working, until my mom put the pieces together and took me to an endo. I had thyroid and insulin problems. I was put on medication, and with mild exercise and dieting, I'm now at 120lbs. I'd say make an appt. you never know. :)

  2. I would suggest a cleansing diet. I lost 12 pounds in 9 days and then 28 pounds in less than a month. I also lost a lot of inches too! I learned that cleansing will help the body get rid of toxins. Toxins come from a lot of things like fast food, pollution, food additives and preservatives and lots of other things. The toxins get stored in the fat in our body. To get rid of the fat, we have to get rid of the toxins by cleansing the body. This made sense to me and I decided to try a cleanse program and it worked. The weight came off fast and this kept me motivated to keep going, not like other diets where the weight loss it too slow. I did Jenny Craig, Weight Watcher and Medifast. If you want to learn more call the toll free number 1-877-587-4647 or check out the website. This was the first time I ever did a cleanse, it was easy and I feel better. Good luck whatever you decide to do! http://losebigweight.com

  3. www.SparkPeople.com has been a God Send! I have changed my entire diet over, but still could not lose weight...

Now, I have a calorie range I can eat it and exercise plans... the message boards are awesome and there are lots of support persons on there... I see a lot of people who are over 300 lbs on there.

This is the 1st time I have lost weight and didn't feel like I was dying or deprived.

They have a calorie counter on the site where you can calculate your daily calories.. a huge help since my math is awful and I was sooo underestimating what I was eating! Once I plugged my #s in there, I found out I was eating several hundred over what I thought.

You can also check out a book called Volumetrics... it is all about eating bulky, good for you foods that will help you lose weight.

Another book I just saw was Eat This, Not That... it shows you what to eat when you eat out that is healthier...

Good Luck! Hope that helps some!
