Hey Kevin M, how the h**l is Ichiro a lousy human being? He's just misunderstood. I'm half Japanese and he's very nice to the Japanese media and on Tv. His English is terrible thats why it seems like he's a*hole for not talking to the American media and what not, but how would you feel if you went to another country and forced to speak another language.

And to answer your question, yes I am definetly rooting for Ichiro to get 200+ hits, .300 batting avg. and another Gold Glove. I'm one of the biggest Ichiro fans here on Y/A, and I'll prolly fly to Seattle from LA to catch his games.

It's hard to pull for a guy who makes Barry Bonds look almost humble. Suzuki is a fine player but a lousy human being so I could care less if he winds up with 200 hits.

Yes I am, anytime a great player comes close to a great feat it is worth to pull for him.  Hope he does it.  I don't care if he's a good human being, I want to see him play, not meet him.

On June 29th, the Mariners played their 81st game of the season, marking of course the end of the first half of their 162 game schedule.  Entering the game, Ichiro's total was 95 hits. So what did he do that day? Why, naturally, he went 5 for 5.

If that didn't make it clear that this man is fated to collect 200 hits not just this year, but every single year that he decides to play, well, I'm just not sure what will.

I am. I hope his streak continues for a long time. It's nice to be around when history is made. Besides, he's one heck of a player.

For sure. He's getting 213 hits by the end of this season. That's my prediction.

Yeah.  I think he needs 18 hits in 23 games.  Definitely doable.
