questions, or prepared to give correct answers to genuine questions?

...or are we all only intending to give silly answers to silly questions to gain points.

The whole answers "game" would make an excellent sociological thesis, (no names of course) and with proper permission.

Does anyone else agree?

I agree.  Someone asked a question about the 2008 election on here and one of the answers was a picture of c**p (#2).  I was thinking what was this person thinking.  Apparently some human minds are only interested in helping themselves.

It would be nice if the answers to serious questions were serious as well but this is the internet, home to sane and stupid alike.

I disagree. The whole "answers game" lacks sufficient merit to make an excellent thesis however, considering the values people have these days, it would likely be interpretted as an "interesting" thesis.

Oh, and because you mentioned silly answers, allow me to indulge you: "Yo mama"

I agree. It was supposed to be a source of information but it's been set up like a game. I really don't understand why some of the askers don't just avail themselves of a good search engine instead of playing the odds here.

I think its both, some people take it seriously and want actual answers but there are some people who just want point so they say whatever. I'm pretty sure most people just want a different perspective from someone who they don't know so the answer isn't biased.

I always get serious answers to serious questions.I don't see a problem.I did get this one answer that was completely stupid and very immature but I just ignored it.It was only once though.

im new to this thing, ive answered some real questions and some silly ones, if i know the answer to a question ill give it you know but if its something that is just for fun and needs no serious answer ill play with that too.

I respond to those questions that make me think about social behavior, and this opportunity makes me do research to find the accurate answer, and has really enlarged my knowledge base.
