Is anyone seeing a trend...?

of teenage girls airing their very disturbing drama on yahoo answers?

It seems that over the last few years I have seen an explosion of young girls asking everything from "Am I a s**t", to "How can I make him jealous"... I'm seeing a disturbing trend of narcissism and ego-maniacal behavior among our youth... I believe it to be symptomatic of an image driven society where male chauvinism has found a way to hijack the women's liberation movement and turn it into a s*x crazed passenger train fueled by media and materialism,?

  1. I agree with you!  The upcoming generation is certainly more ego driven than those in the past.  I have to say that a part of me blames the parents of these kids.  We now see so many parents who truly believe that their children can do no wrong, that they are perfection.  I believe in raising confident children, but not to the the extent that they lose sight of reality.  We ALL make mistakes, this is how we learn.  So, with so many of the youth in the next generation learning (and sadly believing) that they can do no wrong...what will happen to them when they enter the real world??  Mother's need to teach their daughters to fight against male chauvanism and father's need to teach thier sons to respect woman.

  2. You are so right!  I have noticed the same thing.

  3. They can change if they learn yoga and about kundalini and about how to love each other in Heaven when being on Earth.

  4. Yes I have noticed too.  It is disturbing.  The mind set needs to change, the breakup of egoic mind patterns.  If the structures of the human mind remain unchanged we will always end up re creating fundamentally the same world,  the same dysfunction.

  5. I think you make a lot of really good points.  I think the narcissism and restlessness of our youth has a lot to do with how little we expect of them, and our failure to provide structure, adequate parenting, social and spiritual support systems, and good old fashioned responsibilities.  A kid with no real responsibilities to speak of has a lot of time to obsess about clothes, s*x, and popularity.  A kid with chores, jobs, ethical principles which include a responsibility for the welfare of others, is a kid that matures faster and lives a more productive life.

You make a great point too about how the face of chauvinism has simply changed into a different disguise. . . girls willingly limit themselves in so many ways, and no one is teaching them any differently anymore.  For example, sexual freedom doesn't mean the freedom to be pressured into s*x you don't really want!   In the past, being taught that good girls waited to have s*x, at least freed a girl to tell a pushy boy to forget it!
