These swimsuit picks of women who are obviously altered photos are really annoying to me (not to mention I don't want my 5yr old boy anywhere near the computer while I'm on here).

Why does Yahoo Answers take money from such a sleazy company which degrades and pushes women's self confidence down? It seems like in today's world that kind of garbage would be gone.

What do you think? And anything we can do about it?

  1. only reason it lowers self confidence for other women is because they dont look that good i dont think the girls that look good mind only the ugly ones lol

  2. Yes, but if they weren't there, we'd have to pay to use the site. Y!A is a corporation like any other.

  3. If you really hate the ads so much then get a popup blocker that won't even allow the ads to show themselves.

  4. Do what longcat said. Firefox with the extensions.

  5. I've learned not to even see them anymore and if I did, I'd make a mental note to self NOT to EVER buy whatever crapola they're hawking.  Matter of fact, I'll deliberately buy a competitor's product just to support their lack of in-your-face-solicitation.  Pretty soon I'm afraid, someone's going to dream up putting advertising post-its on our foreheads.

  6. As a responder above said, Firefox/Mozilla has an excellent pop-up blockers built in. If you use IE, the google toolbar has (which can be downloaded and installed) comes with a blocker. However, there is good news ! The most recently released IE has an inbuilt pop-up blocker too !

  7. lol, lucky for me the ads are locked by my popup blocker...dont see any of them.

  8. Yes, I don't like them.  I don't even see them anymore because I don't pay attention to them.  But that's the way all advertising is anymore.  They can be advertising a Yogurt, and will be sexualizing women in their commercial.  Nonsense.

  9. I'm tired (and confused) by the strange Rolf-Harris lookalike woman holding a teddy bear, which says 'Jenny, 22, got a great deal!' or something like that.

Well for a start she's more like 62!! It's very annoying.

  10. solution - firefox with adblock and flashblock plugins

  11. I agree with you they are annoying. I would like to block those ads too. Every time I look at them I just remind myself that they are just ads and most of them have been retouched , so most women are not really like that and it is more like looking at an animated picture. There is way more to women than belly buttons , underware and s*x. Thanks for speaking up about it.

  12. I was just talking about this the other night. My husband and his friend were on break.com and all the ads were raunchy! I couldn't believe that they can put something like that on there. It was almost p**n. Same goes for Y!A. They think they can just delete people's accounts because they maybe harmful to other members, but what about the stupid ads that they display on the side of the screen? Half naked women doesn't offend anyone? I'm sorry, but Yahoo! has become corrupted if they think they can be kids friendly and still put up all those offensive ads.

EDIT: Yahoo! probably gets millions of offers, why do they always pick the raunchy ones.

  13. Not really.  If they weren't there, I wouldn't be here, because I sure as h**l ain't paying for this.
