Sorry i don't know many facts about what will happen when there is no more oil left.

can someone please explain?

I have read a bit on the internet but have come across too may different stories, some have said the oil will never run out and others go as far as saying we will practically be back in the stone ages.

is anything being done to prepare for when this happens, like a subsitute for oil?

and as for the food, what will happen when no one can afford to heat there homes, or feed there families?

  1. Well it will never run out because nearly all of us will have to stop using our cars, eating food or using a cooker.... and why is that you ask... well we will soon be back into the Stone age as one writer remarked because everything is going sky high, so on that alone , answers your question. Money will go out of fashion as it will be worthless the way prices are going. Mind you we will still have the fat cats, running about in their big cars... you know.. those that do not care a d**n about anyone else. After working for 61yrs, and utilising   all my paltry pension, and what bit I had saved to live I find myself feeling like a pauper... but does anyone care... of course they dont, and its all down to these men in grey suits,,,, as they say, and I would love for some of these men to come and live... or should I say exist in todays marketplace.... so go on put every thing up sky high and I will just curl up waiting for the end...B.....Governments, Gas , and Electric People, have no thought for anyone but their fat cheques at the end of the month.

  2. PREPARE! American don't PREPARE.

Americans wait until the last loaf of bread

is sold and the last gal. of gas, and they are

put out on the street...then they start ********* i n g....big time....and blaming the GOVERNMENT.  That's the America way!

(It was known 50 years ago that the oil was running out.  Ask the big 5 auto makers that

refused to change their fuel.  Ask why noone

believed in alternative fuels...Just like noone

believes in alternative home heating, lighting

A/C. growing their own food, on and on.

Noone will accept responsibility for themselves, they always let somebody else

    do it.

  3. many people have foreseen the end of oil.  M. King Hubbert first identified it in the 1950s!   He correctly predicted the Peak Oil in the US at 1970.  You will hear a lot about Peak Oil, not so much about when oil runs out.  If there was room here I would try to explain that Peak Oil is a lot more important than when we "run out" of oil.  There will always be oil in the ground (OIG) but it is and will be so hard to get out that it would cost more to retrieve it than it's worth.

Right now the problem is that for the next 30-50 years, it is a supply/demand issue.  The world cannot produce enough cheap oil to satisfy the demand.

What will happen in 30 years?  Wars, starvation, local economies (bakeries in your town, shoe repairmen)  The idea of shipping apples and kiwis from New Zealand  will no longer work.  Too expensive.  You can bet on war.  Great nations will need oil.  The best way to get it is to steal it from poor countries.

Oh, MW51:  All the oil that ever existed or will exist has either been burned or is in the ground.  The Earth does not make oil now.  Sorry.  And the oil off Brazil won't come online for another ten years.  Sorry.

You need to worry about the collapse of the electric grid before we run out of oil.  The grid is, in some places, 100 years old and it is in sad shape.  Plus, most electricity in the US is generated by burning natural gas, which is not nearly as plentiful as you are led to believe.  Natgas is simply a byproduct of oil drilling.  No one drills for natgas.  Stop drilling for oil and you run out of natgas.

  4. Finally, an Intelligent Question:

No, oil will not run out.  It is being made by the Earth at a constant rate - and it has nothing to do with Dinosaurs.

They just found 90 Billion Barrels, estimate, in North America.  People in Nebraska and North Dakota just found out within the last few years, that there is Oil below them, and they are becoming Millionaires.

There are Large deposits of Oil just off the shores of the US, but drilling was not allowed because people who live on the beach didn't want to see an Oil Rigg 12 miles off shore -- Hello, It would be a dot on the Horizon.  Bush is pushing this thru to allow drilling.

As for food, the US should be safe for many years, longer than our Life-times.

As for people not being able to heat there homes, there are alternatives, Solar Panels are the best, then wind mills - going back in time to a very ingeneous device.

Yes, this costs $$$ up front, but in the end, you save, and you can sell any "extra" power back to your electric company.

Back to Oil, the subsitute is Ethanol from corn, but it takes more energy to produce than it gives out, so it is not viable for the long haul.

Hybrid Cars will be the way of the future.

I hope this helps relieve your fears, but don't fret, it won't happen in our lifetime.

  5. it will come full circle. so what, we will have to adapt to life before 'luxuries' nothing is never ending. how do you think your ancestors coped with no TV, no cars, coal fires etc. life has become contradictory, we work long hours but without the effort. we live in an awful materialistic world, whats wrong with going back to basics, less crime, more respect, simple happy lives. I'm not concerned. and if food shortages mean less packaged ready meals in the supermarkets its no hardship, people will get more jobs from mining and farming, lazy people are concerned, I'm not.

EDIT yes i agree with what your saying as well. and war terrifies me beyond belief and i have heard people say that its a war which will pull things around for the economy etc. but imagine how much more family values will come into play. I'm only 31 but i have seen a huge difference in how lives are led since i was a child. its sad really isn't it. i have 4 kids and wish a better life for them. modern life is not good for anyone.

  6. No, nothing is really being prepared JB.  And mw451 is in dreamland.  And this is not an American problem (as the Americans sadly think it is), it is global, and it is what Islam have been hoping for (the fools).

Now days in the global village we can be affected very quickly by what goes on in another part of the world.  Most politics is gears to a slower smaller world, so that political system can no longer be relied upon to fix something this big, this quick.  It is like a run-away train, you don't sit on the train planning what you will do next, unless you are foolish like mw451 and believe that mankind can fix anything.

There are too many people in the world, end of story.  Just look at China and India, if they manage to have a higher standard of living like the Americans, British, Australians etc; there just will not be enough oil, nor steel, nor food, nor copper, nor rubber, etc etc.

The Greenpeace movement has much to answer for as well, for they push in a calm and levelheaded way, for mankind to do the impossible; instead we should get ready for the worst.

I will soon be moving to a remote wasteland, to hide and practice the act of survival.  The more wealth each of us has, the better we can hide.  Leaving at the last moment, is what most people will try to do, and that is where the term 'judgment day' will come into its own.  Many sane kind people will change and hurt each other in a mad rush to escape and survive, I don't intend to be there to see it, for it will be like a horror movie.

    Ever seen Mad Max?

  7. Stop buying the Al Gore scare tactics. They will get you nowhere.

  8. Click this link, it is pretty scary!

  9. Enjoy today while it is around and worry about today tomorrow when you wake up

Never worry worry til worry worries YOU

  10. ANARCHY is the short answer

  11. i dont know the next 20 years will be testing on world resourses were at a crossroad bio fuel equals more land to grow what ever they need to make oil with the growing populations of the world will cause famine worce than ever or keep invading countrys like iraq iran saudi arabia in my opinion america will invade them all not because they hate muslims because you need oil to run an econmy so dose europe russia has it all plenty of oil plenty of food wait and see russia will be back stronger than ever twenty years from now russia will call the shots

  12. Why do you think NASA get so much dough? When nothing is left the oppressors will ***** off to Alpha Centuri leaving the oppressed to destroy each other. :(

  13. LMAO! "And the newks are ready"

  14. There is no fuel shortage, there is in fact a surplus of crude in storage.

OPEC has falsely inflated the price of fuel, because it can. Period. The best answer to this, is to conserve fuel and find alternative ways to travel, and heat and cool our homes. Those are the basic reasons we use fuel. As solar, wind, and electrical power become more popular, skies will clear, water will be much cleaner, and we will no longer be at the mercy of oil companies, foreign or domestic.

  15. I have no idea what the rest of the world is going to do, but I myself and all the other Christians in the world are going to be at Home with Jesus around the Great White Throne.  You can go too, all you have to do is go to Romans:10:9-13 KJV Bible and you will find directions.  Hope to see you there.  Oh don't worry about the children, they are going too.

  16. oh gosh !!

i am going to store  some food!! before  there is nothing left and the prices increases!!

  17. General Motors is developing an electric car, the Chevy Volt, and the nukes are ready for when the population becomes too large to feed.

  18. to be honest, neither of those two things are probably going to be the end of us.  A lot of experts are theorizing that we will run low on potable (drinkable) water supplies long before the food and oil run out.  This is going to cause ridiculous consequences as there will be mass migrations to areas where drinkable water still exists therefore crowding that area and causing the supply to dwindle even faster.  Not to mention all the fighting and craziness that's going to take place when we don't have enough water.

But, to answer your question, things are being done about possible oil shortages like using renewable fuels like ethanol and energy sources like wind and solar.  Also, many biolabs are working on food sources that are larger and heartier so that they can grow bigger in worse environments.  That's got it's own probs associated with that, but I'll save that for another question.  Feel free to email me if you want any more info on this stuff...

  19. Alternatives are being sought for oil but I suspect that oil will be around for a long time yet, but at a price that only a few will afford. Electricity, hydrogen and propulsion by other fuels will come onto the market but again not everyone will be able to afford them. Public transport will have to improve substantially. In any event ordinary people will become poor whilst the rich will continue to become wealthier. Running a house and feeding our children will make a great precentage of our population  destitute and in due course we shall see widespread urban and rural unrest with greater violence against people and property. Unless successive governments deal with the inequality in society things will become dire.

  20. Vehicles running on natural gas which is plentiful, and God came down with manna once.  Another delivery would shut the atheists up forever.

  21. There are actually quite a few alternatives, in Brazil for example they are starting to use ethanol in heating (they have been using it in cars for about 5 years now). Here in the states more and more people are starting to power their houses using solar power, if you use an electric furnace and hot water heater you can support your house completely off of solar power. you will actually save your investment within the first year.

  22. no way, there is no plan B.

  23. then we will all have to do without fish and chips and driving to the seaside we will have to wear large woollies in the winter and go to bed early , the population will then take an upsurge it will be Xmas in the workhouse for all except politicians who will  sit around parliament to keep warm and get fed. along with the fat cats from the power industries.

another walk back in time from new labour perhaps stock piling sugar now might be a good idea.

  24. I've been asking this question since the heady days of the 1970s , so since the world has had plenty of time to do something about it I guess nobody really cares. The real world leaders (the oil barons) sure as h**l don't want to act right now so perhaps we're all doomed.

  25. No, science is clueless with what to do when/if the oil runs out.
