  1. noo they are actually going up ...eventually we are going o be at 7 dollars a gallon..

  2. The price of oil is directly set on the future market. Byron Dorgan - Democrat, North Dakota, Chairman of two Senate Energy Subcommittees. wrote: "A carnival of speculation has been under way in the energy futures market. The market is treated like a 24 hour casino while the regulators are asleep. Every day, 20 times more oil gets traded than is delivered. Speculators are making money hand over fist while we get stuck with the bill each time we fill our gas tank. Because of the way that energy trades remain unregulated, speculators are controlling the US oil market. They can put a small deposit of like 5% down on the price of an oil futures contract and then sell that contract when the spot price rises, before the balance on that contract becomes due."

  3. Nothing should be done! The free market will determine this soon enough by giving us better cars and better sources of energy. If we intervene and get lower gas prices it will only hurt us in the end.

  4. Gas in Europre is three times more expensive. Deal with it or ride a bike!

  5. In 5 years all new cars will be running on batteries that can charge for $3 worth of electricity:

  6. hopefully...

  7. The free market is dealing with gas prices the way is should. It’s harder to find and the oil that is there is more difficult to refine (Canadian tar sands).

People across the world are facing the same issue only that America has lower taxes on oil and as a result pay less at the pump than all other western countries.

This has affected the choices Americans have made in the past, buy buying unnecessarily large cars (Hummer).

If it were up to me I would put a surcharge on fuel to double it, and all profits would be put into cheap reliable public transport for all cities larger than a million people.

Plus there is a solution to the obesity problem in America, Introducing the bicycle.

  8. Sure! The LESS we drive, the lower the Prices will go! -No problem! :)

  9. Stop buying gas guzzlers and just perhaps petro prices will decrease.

  10. Obama has said that if he is elected he will move to close the Enron loophole immediately.  Many industry analysts believe that will bring the price of gas down by 50%.
