Question:

Is anything that ends in 'ol', alcohol???

What i mean is that ethanol, sorbitol and any other 'ol' endings, are actually alcohols.

what is ur opinion??

  2. a lot of medicine ends in ol...... paracetamol, atenanol, proprananol ,sabutamol  , tramadol ,etc.

  3. Yes it is true.

    But this is a designation that organic chemists use to classify a group of compounds that react in similar ways.

    -ol is the desiignation of an alcohol but this does not mean the intoxicating one we drink (ethyl or ethanol).

    Sugars are both.  They are sugar-alcohols this is why anti-freeze is sweet. The alcohol in anti-freeze is a fasle sugar-if you will sugar. But it is very toxic.

    l-ol!!!

    as someone pointed out... Paracetemol, etc are not alcohols but end in -ol...

    u have to see which ones get u intoxicated if u are trying to avoid that...
