Get ready Indians, the Apple iPhone 3G will officially be brought out by Airtel on August 21st, at midnight.

A company spokesperson said Airtel subscribers can purchase the iPhone at Airtel’s Relationship Centres from "August 22".

The Apple iPhone 3G is finally all set to debut in India on the August 22nd 2008. The GSM providers Bharti Airtel and Vodafone are the first telecom majors to launch it in the country.

The speciality of the phone being the subsidized price in USA and other countries may not be realised in India though. There is word that the handset will be priced at around Rs. 20,000.

You might like to add about 15k more to the 20,000 figure and that is the official price of the Apple iPhone 3G. I saw this post at TechDrunk (http://www.techdrunk.com/apple-iphone-3g... that broke the news of the official price tag iPhone. 8 GB version for Rs 31,000 and 16 GB version for Rs. 37,000.

The Indian telecom companies will not be able to subsidize the cost of the handset since they are unable to charge the users hefty call charges for usage.

The call charges for usage in the USA on plans with the subsidized phone go as high as 25cents a minute. The per minute charge incurred by the user in India is not even 1/10th of that.

Most awaited apples iphone is out here in india.For many weeks media's hav been speculating abt the prices of iphone. It was short after the release of iphone in global market , india's top service providers vodaphone and airtel claimed it would be launch it in india soon. And not so long they are going to release in india in a couple of days.

It was vodaphone which has given clues about it's price in it's website and sms, email sent to those who have registered to this device.

The iphone 3g is available in two formats. one with 8gb costing 31000Rs. and other with 16 gb with price 36100Rs.

Before there were speculations that iphone would price would come around 20000, and with it's price out today, it's pricing keep it as a niche product and not as a mass product ( as believed earlier)

And presently there is no news from airtel abt the iphone's price and is expected to be more competitive compared to the price of vodaphone.But can't expect a steep less price from them in the present scenario
