  1. Low-dose aspirin does work as a blood thinner...but it thins blood in your entire body.  You can't direct it to work on certain body areas...one of the worst side-effects of aspirin is that it can destroy the inner lining of the stomach and cause bleeding, and in some cases, death.

Perhaps you should schedule a doctor appointment and talk with him/her and get a diagnosis and medication recommendation.

My mom, who suffers from arthritis, used to take a couple of Tylenol a day for years, and one day she woke up vomiting blood--and she had to be rushed to the hospital and had surgery...a lesson about aspirin and similar products the hard way.

  2. Why do you want to increase blood flow to the stomach?

  3. Aspirin's common and worrisome side-effect is upper GI bleeding. Ischemic bowel disease is quite uncommon. Unless you're in a very unusual situation and it's been recommended by your physician, I'd say you've likely misdiagnosed yourself and need to refrain from using aspirin for that purpose.

  4. YOu don't need to take it unless your doctor tells you to take it!!

  5. Yes, it would work to take an aspirin a day to increase your blood flow. Aspirin in the low-dose (81mg) form taken daily is used as a blood thinner, and is usually given to someone right as they're having a heart attack. There are no side effects as long as you take it as directed. But make sure to use the 81mg, because the regular 325mg would be too harsh to use.
