  1. Im an atheist and i love my life.   i dont find my life pointless at all.  I have a plan in life, but its my plan not what 'god' has set out for me to do,  if you really belive in god then why does he have to make newborn babys die, or children or how about teenagers and mothers and fathers at such a young age.

  2. Just disbelief.

  3. No. If you need religion to give you a point to life then your life is more pointless than an atheists.

  4. Atheism means that you don't believe in God. That doesn't mean that you are self-loathing or life is pointless. What about your friends, family, job, social life and you can still try to do good in the world without believing in God. Some of the greatest hypocrites are religious. Religion has been the cause of more wars, murder and 'division' between people than anything else. Religious people that lack tolerance are the pits...

  5. No... because an Athiest now believes that he is free to choose and make a purpose for himself rather than doing what God/s ultimate plan :

  6. WHATEVER MAN  is believing in something with NO proof mean Ur ill.  I would suggest so.   U R CRAZY CALL THE PEOPLE IN WHITE COATS.

  7. No it a manifestation of realism

  8. I personally don't believe in god because i've never had any evidence for it to be true, and looking at the science side of things, i think it seems far more likely. I don't hate myself, although i do have some aspects of me that i'd like to change sometimes..

But no, no its not. And no, no i'm not. My life is my life..

  9. No. You're thinking of Nihilism.

An atheist, and I have known personally and known of, many many deeply concerned and compassionate atheists, simply disbelieves in a divine entity that either created, controls, or watches us. They believe not at all that the life they have is pointless; but completely the opposite. They believe the life they have is the only one they've got and so they ought to make it the best they can - and many do this by trying very very hard to save the world from the troubles humankind has brought upon it.

  10. No not atal, its just that as an athiest you live for other things in this life, not what comes ater death (as theists believe). I dont understand why theists have such a hard time believeing that athiests are happy and that they are fulfilled and dont need a religion. It isnt something they think about so it isnt leaving any hole in their life. They have morals and standards too, but they are based on experience or common sense or they were taught by their parents right from wrong. Their is a point to everyones life, how we can positively affect others through life, and how we can find happiness in this life. Athiests just dont need a book to follow in order to be happy.

  11. I'm not one to judge other peoples views or beliefs but sometimes it does seem strange to know that people dont really know why the are on earth. Each to there own i guess...

  12. Do you mean like it is hard for you to accept your own existence or goodness and you projected it onto God? It might be. You are doing some deep thinking.

I hope you can find a way to move toward self-acceptance with the help of friends or counseling or even reading or movies. You have a great mind. Now for some healing for your feelings.

  13. No, of course not. Myself being of a faith, I cannot necessarily say that I know how an atheist would feel about it, but I do not believe they see their life (or any life, for that matter) as pointless. On the contrary, I would think that they see many many things (sometimes more things than those of us with a belief in God or some higher power(s)) as quite meaningful. They are more often than not the very people trying to improve the world and do the best they can with the time they have on this planet, because to most of them this is the only life they believe exists. Nothing after this.

To put it simply, the only huge differences between a good person who's an Atheist and a good person who's a Christian or Muslim or Jew or Hindu or Buddhist or... well those are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head right now... is that people of these faiths and religions find their purpose by serving the one they follow (so for example, as a Christian, hearing God's call in their life to do something), while an Atheist will find their purpose by doing what they themselves feel they were put on this earth to do.

But it is most definitely not in any way shape or form a manifestation of self-loathing.

As a side note to some answerers here... not all Theists pin any and everything on the one they worship... the good (I know in my own case) I give thanks for. The bad I ask for strength through. Because to me, in my own views, I don't believe bad things come from the One I follow.

  14. No atheism is not believing in a God and a God is not needed for life to have a 'point' x*x

  15. What!!!

    Are you a complete moron?

Actually, it's more like the opposite. Atheists do not need the mental crutch of a god to get through life. We actually try and find logical explanations for things instead of blindly saying "it's god's work" or something equally inane.

My life has more of a point to it that non-atheists because I make my own choices and take responsibility for my own actions. Theists are happy to pin everything, good or bad, on their god.

POLECAT - happy to be of service :-)
