  1. it's a good place to live.i have an american friend from california who took his twin son and wife to live here.they never looked back.

  2. The First Poster may be right in many aspects but one thing is people forget that the base wage in AU is greater and we also have a safety net for our residents who find themselves out of work.

  3. Well, it all comes down to opinion and personal taste.

Australia's seclusion from the rest of the world geographically creates higher prices, so it is significantly more expensive than the USA. Google a few prices to get an idea.

Internet access can average maybe 5 times more expensive. Food seems to be about double, housing is higher etc.

Luxury items like shoes, hair etc can be enourmous. The same hair appointment I pay $30 for in the US costs me a good $130 in Australia [Melbourne]. I pay $10 for my nails in the US, and $45 in Australia. Name brand sneakers can be up to $100 more, sometimes much more.

Australia, like the USA, also has issues economic debt. It is all personal taste which you prefer, but if one looks at it from a sheerly economic standpoint - the significantly lower price structure in the USA enables one to engage in a far higher standard of living.

That only refers to the economics, the other aspects [weather, lifestyle etc] would all be your personal tastes.
