Take away Phelps gold medals and Australia are In second so if you ask me the Americans with about 10-20 times the athletes to choose from are not doing that well.

Yes they are scared of winning Gold Medals becuase in Beijing They've mainly been winning Silver and Bronze. They cant handle they pressure like the USA and China do.

What a stupid stupid question.

Take Michael Phelps 8 gold medals off the American tally and I don't think they'd still be in 2nd place. And the Yanks have put forward a much bigger team than the Aussies and have around 20 times the population.

Australia has world class swimmers, hockey players, rowers, shooters, archers, water polo players, divers etc etc etc. But this is the Olympics and everybody kinda wants to win the gold.
