I recieved an email from "awardspromo008@sify.com" <awardspromo008@sify.com> that I won $400,000 dollars. they are asking me to fill up a application form.

this is actually what happend to my email address

from:"awardspromo008@sify.com" <awardspromo008@sify.com>

to: undisclosed-recipeint

They reqauired me to contact this person in order to win a $400,000 US dollars. The email address of this person is "John campbell" <johncampbellclaimsagent@yahoo.co.uk>.

I recieved a format of application form to fill up they are asking me my Bank account address, bank account name and bank account number.

This is called a &quot;phishing scam&quot;.  They hope to get information out of you which will enable them to steal your money directly from your account, or else they hope to convince you to pay a &quot;small processing fee&quot; of some kind in order to gain a large amount of money which you will never really get.  There is no International Online Lottery, and there is no $400,000.  It is all a lie.  They are thieves.

    Don&#039;t give them any information; don&#039;t reply to them at all.  In fact, if your email provider has a way to report such things, you should do so.  You may end up saving the next person from falling for their scam.


  2. I get those emails to. The question I ask myself: What have I done to win an international lottery? Did you play tickets?  Most of those emails try to get your personal information to scam you. when you fill it out, they want you to send money to &quot;get it to you&quot; My advice is to delete emails like that. Each time you receive an email like that, it will be under a different name. DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR BANK INFORMATION. OR SSN UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE.
