  1. Is autocad a lot of work?

Yes. It's really easy in the beginning 'cause you'll only be dealing with simple commands, etc.

I'm a design student and it kills me every time I have to use the program for detailed views and technical drawings.

My friend is an architect student and she absolutely hates the program.

Details are quite annoying to deal with in autocad.

    Is it tedious?

Absolutely. Like I've said details are annoying to deal with. It's tedious and they take up a lot of time.

However, it really depends on what you're going to use it for. If you're going to go into design, I suggest going straight into 3D programs. If you're going into architecture, etc. sorry to say but you won't much much choice there.

And of course, I suspect not many people would use hand-drawn technical drawings in the future. So even though its tedious, etc. it's a good skill to learn. Just prepare yourself for the frustration that I guarantee will come.

    Good luck.

  2. Yes it is a lot of work. But it is the way things are done now. No one does drafting any more with a pencil and the like. I design printed circuits a lot and eventually it takes the place of video games.

  3. Even though it may seem difficult, as soon as you learn the basic commands and maneuvers it is really easy. I'm only a sophomore in high school and I've only learned a few things but I'm really enjoying it. Trust me, you'll probably really like auto cad once you learn a little. It's not hard at all. Good luck!!!
