Yes, I would definitely recommend Avast.

-Avast is one of the best Anti-Virus softwares there is. Avast has one of the highest virus detection rates of any software. Avast is definitely better than Avg. Everyone thinks Avg is good just because its popular, though it doesnt have good detection or removal rates compared to Avast. And the best part is that Avast is Free!

Avast has been rated as the "Best Anti-Virus of the Year" by  PC World magazine.

Although Avasts interface looks like a music player, dont judge it by its cover, its really good.

I've used it for years and can highly recommend it. http://avast.com

Also install and run spybot search and destroy and SUPERantispyware about once a week and ccleaner daily [ccleaner and registry scans].

It was selected by PC World magazine as last year's "Best Product of the Year" in the anti-virus catagory.  While I have not used it, it has a very good reputation.

AVG is one of the more popular ones but Avast has higher detection rates and I would recommend it. Low resource use, sits nicely in the background alerting you when there is a threat.

There is no best anti-virus. But i think avast is okay. You could try Eset Smart Security

I'VE USED IT FOR YEARS AND IT IS GREAT!

THERE IS A FREE EDITION THAT I USED FOR A WHILE, BUT NOW I BOUGHT IT
