Do you know which is a better T.V

Panasonic TH37PX80 or Panasonic TX32LZD85 or

Panasonic TX37LZD800

I'm looking to buy either a 32 " or 37 " T.V

When i think i have found a quality T.V, i read a review which

talks about Backlight bleeding.

I have also noticed when i have looked in shops the T.V's seems to be playing a cartoon. Is there a reason for this ??

  1. Yes that is common with LCD TV's.  It may not be a problem though.  I only notice that when the room is dark and the TV casts a bit of light on the wall behind the TV.

  2. Backlight bleeding can occur in all LCD tvs although this should  be less of a problem in good make tvs like Samsung or Panasonic. This is why I feel Plasmas are a better technology. The problem is I wouldn't recommend Plasma's for sizes less than 42", as they aren't as good as LCDs at lower sizes and they just don't exist at 32".

As for the cartoon question. Yes there is a reason - even normal standard definition cartoon looks good on an HD ready tv. Unfortunately, most of the TVs in the stores aren't hooked up to HD content and normal programmes from an aerial can look quite poor on some tvs, especially on full HD tvs. Therefore they play cartoons (often some Disney film) as they look good in both HD and SD.

Finally, as for the makes of tvs you mention. They are all good ones but what you need to consider is what type of programmes are you going to be watching. If you don't have HD then there is no point getting a full HD tv, as normal SD has to be blown up to fit into native resolution of the tv, a bit like zooming in on a thumbnail photo on a computer. I would only recommend the PX80 if you are not going to be watching HD for a long time. As the resolution is a very low HD resolution, hence why it is good for SD. The LZD800 is the best full HD tv out of the other two, but to be honest to save £100, the LZD85 will be fine and the one I recommend if you have HD.

There is a site called "Plasma or LCD" at:

    http://plasmaorlcd.co.uk

which gives guides to buying and product reviews.

If you haven't got HD at the moment but might do in the future then don't get any of the tvs listed above. Instead get a tv with a resolution of around 1366x768, with a good contrast ratio. There are some listed at the site above, which tell you which ones are good.

    Hope that helps!

  3. Backlight bleeding is a common problem for all LCD devices. Generally the newer LCD's don't have much of a problem with it though.

I'd ignore the Panasonic TH37PX80  the resolution sucks. b oth of the other ones support full HD and seem very similiar. I could not any listing that rated their response time, but you should find that out first.
