Is bad memory a medical disorder?

I'm renowned for my bad memory. I'm 28 and can't remember the simplest words such as "car" and sometimes "bike". This can prove insanely embarrassing at times. Common names, dates, words sometimes slip my mind at the worst possible time. I've tried mental exercises and breathing but nothing seems to help. I think this might be tied to the fact that I'm a nervous person. How can I fix this? Am I stuck with it forever.

  1. i do it all the time-- I'm 27 and it seems to be getting worse.  i'm always saying... "hey, can you get the thing out of that and put it there"

only my boyfriend can understand me and that's just 1/2 the time. i've been to docs and they put me on ADD meds and that helps a little, but i think i have a thyroid condition.

You should have your doc check for that.  otherwise, there's a natural suppliment called Choline that you can take.  I tried it for a while, but after 1 week forgot to keep taking it :)

  2. There is an actual name for this but for the life of me I can't remember it. lol. I have the same problem. I mix up related words too. I'm always telling my kids to put the wash in the refrigerator or to take the fish for a walk. Always related things but the wrong one. For me it seems to be mostly names that are mixed up or missing. I'll see if I can remember what it's called, there are some exercises that help.
