Question:

Is badmitten more exciting than tennis?

My boss at work seems to believe that bad mitten is 1) a harder sport than tennis, 2) a sport much more entertaining to watch.

My argument is that ratings for tennis are higher than bad mitten. Also at the olympic stadium there are more people watching tennis than there are bad mitten.

Can I get some answers to what others think.

  1. theres entertaining things about both but i think tennis is MUCH more entertaining then badmitten. Tennis is much more of a mental and physical game than badmitten is. The ball could bounce anywhere and go anywhere. But a badmitten birdie usually just falls and if it goes over then whoopdedoo. But with tennis if it goes over then its right back to ready position for the return hit if there is one.

  2. That must be a joke!

No, really, tennis is a much more strenuous and all around better.

The exciting factor in badmitton is that it may require quicker reflexes because of the different "ball" (shuttlecock). Birdies shoot down quicker and move a lot differently than a tennis ball. What's exciting in tennis is the challenges of an ever-changing game which seems to require more and more strength, quickness, cunning, all while maintaining elegance on the court.

In the end, it comes down to the fact that people have preferences, but both sports and players should be respected for their athleticism.

  3. Bad minton doesnt take as much skill or effort as tennis does. Tennis is so much more complex, it's like badminton is only volleying the whole time in tennis. I dunno, I just like tennis more in general. Badminton is bad, not really--just a little 'less great' than tennis is. =]

  4. I like tennis much better, there is more variety, plus it is much more popular.  I mean you can just see it by seeing that there is a tennis channel and no badmitton channel.  How in the wolrd is badmitton harder than tennis?  Badmitton you need to run much less and it doesn't take nearly as much effort to hit the thing.

  5. no

  6. Personally, Badminton has a more quicker tempo than tennis and requires good reflexes and your boss might be right as badminton is played at a higher tempo as it is played in a small area of space and you can not allow the shuttlecock to fall on the floor, therefore this creates quick-paced, exciting rallies.

However, i believe tennis is much more of a harder sport to play than badminton as with tennis you play with a ball that is heavy, players can hit the ball at different spins and different paces, technique is paramount with tennis especially with the backhand, however, with badminton you are able to get away with poor technique as the game has alot to do with the wrist.

Overall, I would say Tennis is more exciting as there are more well-known players and at times with tennis with certain players you are left amazed at how they came up with a tight angled shot and i think tennis is more physical compared to badminton.
