  1. I have been to Barbados eight times and have never been robbed.  The only stabbing incident I heard about was when a local girl stabbed her boyfriend for being unfaithful - buy hey that can happen anywhere!

  2. Their has been a rise in crime during 2008,but as long as you use common sense you should be fine,it's overall a friendly country.We have friends who go every year and  they love it and we are going in two weeks.The advise they gave us,though they have had no problems,is;

    Don't go on empty beaches  or down quiet streets at night,which I wouldn't do anywhere,stay round the busy places and if you are out and about at night take a taxi back to your hotel.

    Every country has it's problems but we are looking forward to our trip.

  3. Barbadians like to say bad things about other lslands so that the tourists will come there, but no they're not perfect, just conceited!

  4. It is not wise to stray outside your hotel complex before 10am and after 5pm, even then you must be careful about where you go. Take advice from staff in hotel.

  5. Hi i went to Barbados a few years ago for a month and had a lovely time. I never had any problems everyone seemed friendly and helpful. Obviously there are dangers where ever you go, take advice from hotel staff if your worried and i would always stay with someone i dont think its wise to go places alone especially at night, in a foreign country. Its a beautiful place i would go back.  Hope this helps.

  6. as a caribbean local i never heard that barbados had much murders or crime but then again everywhere has a little bit of crime. i'd advise you to have fun but be careful.

  7. I'm shocked! Where did you hear such a thing about Barbados?!

    Let me tell you;

    Barbados has NO CRIME! The knife they rob people with are fake rubber like they use in magic shows.

    You don't have to worry about anything, you can walk around day and night go to the most seedy places and you know what, NOTHING HAPPENS. Don't be fooled by people telling you to be safe because the locals will tell you that when anything happens to you "it's a PETTY crime". My friends and l were there last week and one was robbed in St Lawrence Gap but don't worry that's nothing big, after all, Barbados UNLIKE the rest of the Caribbean is clean, green and serene and nobody should say otherwise. NOT!!!

  8. Barbados is a relatively safe place but that is not to say that nothing would happen here just like anywhere else.  Anywhere you go you have to be careful even in your own country.  All you have to do is to be careful in what ever you do.  Just take the same precautions that you would take in your own country.  Come and enjoy yourself and do not listen to people trying to discourage you.  Ask those same people if it happened to them.  I am sure that if someone told you so, all cant tell you so.

  9. Barbados is safe but of course their the guy's on the street who will ask for money but hey! thats world wide you can't get away from it but out of 100% i would say Barbados is about 92% safe.

    P.S - If you go though St.Lawrence gap PLEASE move out of the road for vehicles.....lots of ppl find it fit to block the road until they hear the screams of my exhaust :S

  10. Barbados is no more dangerous than most other holiday destinations. These days people get stabbed for a few coppers. Do you not read the UK news papers?

  11. How may people ge robbed at knife point in New York, Chicago or Detroit.......are those cities safe.......go with what your feel.......
