  1. I think it is. My friend is in the marines and one of his friends went crazy and started smashing his leg with the butt of his rifle. He said it's pretty brutal. He also told me that at one point they had to go 3 days on 2 hours of sleep and they do drills and played little mind games. I'm sure it's different in the army but that's a taste. If I were you I would start lifting and running xcore all this month to prepare.

  2. no, i went there not a peice of cake but deinitly worth it. good luck.

  3. Crazy?  hmmmm....just the Drill Sargeants.  They absolutely do jump ya at the slightest hint of a s***w up.  After a while, it gets to be kind of funny....but don't laugh, or you will be next.  I think they teach them funny sayings in School.

My strongest memory of Basic is just being TIRED.  Any time you get to sit down, or just stand still, you want to sleeeeep.  I once crawled under my bunk, to tighten it, and nodded off.  Of course the Drill Sargeant picked that moment to walk by and notice, and started ranting and raving and tipped the whole bunk over.  Not a nice way to wake up.

All in all, it's not that bad, though.  Like someone else said, keep your head down, do your best and keep repeating - it's only for a little while.

And remember, it's not malicious - there is a point to all the madness.  You are being tested.  If you can't handle the stress of basic, you can't handle the stress of combat.  One of the purposes of basic is to weed out the weak, before they do real damage on a battlefield.

And when you do get in a situation, you will know the guys around you survived it too, and can be trusted.

  4. not bad at all, get yourself in the best shape possible so you are ready. Also don't leave the rest of your group behind you and don't fall behind the group. The more you work as a team and make sure you help others the better off you are.

  5. It can be worse.  It really depends on what shape you are in, and how well you work inside of the group.  If you are the one who is always getting the group in trouble, then at some point expect to get some trouble yourself.  Pay attention, keep your stuff in order and don't get noticed and you will be fine.

  6. Is a pain in the ***. Everyone is really messed up but after you pass only like 10 of the things they teach you apply. One for example cant chew gum. After you pass you can chew all you want no one will give.

  7. Just do whatever your commanding officers tells you to do.

The movies are not fabricated, you are seeing what really went down.

  8. It will have its humorous moments, but for the mot part it will be a lot of getting up early and doing things that seem gruelling and tedious. However, within a few months, it will be over and then AIT starts. AIT will still have a lot of the tedium and "sos", but it will not be as gruelling. For some, it is when they get enough rope to hang themselves with and for others it will be the opportunity to make their own decissions.
