  1. I heard from my recruiter they call it "relaxin Jackson" it is supposed to be the easiest..

I highly doubt it though. Any training is what you make of it, just keep your ears and eyes open, and your mouth shut.

Congrats on getting in and serving our country. What will you be training for?

  2. I was there in the Spring of 2004 for basic. It is easier than the other sites for basic. I went to ait at another base and got a chance to see their basic.

Make sure you come into basic in shape. Eat healthy now. Stop smoking now if you do.

In the beginning of basic you will do an obstacle course. Then you will do that same course again at the end. I believe it is called the "confidence course". You get a chance to see how much you have improved.

Do what your suppose to and work hard! Don't try and sneak and use the phones. Don't try to sneak anything in. Sound off! Don't talk to members of the opposite s*x unless you have to. Keep you battle buddy close. Focus on graduation. The quickest way out is to graduate.

  3. I went September 2, many moons ago.  It was hot, humid, they ran our asses up and down sand hills, they ran us out to ranges and back, it was no picnic for sure.  Shooting was good though.

You should have gone about the end of September when its not so d**n hot.

  4. lol yea realxin jackson. its weak from what I have heard. Even where I went to basic in Ft. Knox has gotten soft. I dated a chick that went to jackson and she said it was a cake walk. the Drill Sgt never yelled or anything. I also heard they have these things called "stress cards" now I have no clue what those are but the things ive heard about them discourage me from wanting to be a Drill Sgt. Whats the point of being a D.S. if you can't chew a new recruit out and p.t. them til they puke!?!?!

  5. They say that in the Army

    The Chow is mighty fine

A biscuit rolled off the table

And killed a friend of mine

Some folks don't like my preview of Army Basic! Don't think it has changed too awful much since Dino Days, I even throw in a little butt chewing...no extra charge

It might go a little like this:

    Up before the sun.

30 minutes max for the 3 S's ($h!t, shower, shave) sometimes the shower is the night before.

    Formation.

    A little PT

    Chow

Draw weapons if going to range

    Formation

    Double time to training site

    Train

    Chow

    Train

More PT Drill Sargent We Eat This $h!t Up

    Double time back to barracks

    Stack weapons

    Post guards

    Chow

    Clean weapons if drawn

    Have weapon inspected

    Turn in weapon

    Formation

    1 hour of your time....maybe

    GI boots

    GI area

    Write mommy

    Lights out 2130-2200

    Coma time

    "DROP AND GIVE ME 20"

Keep the pie hole shut and listen.

Think out your questions...it's the Army...do not appear that you were not paying attention!!!

Do not point at food and ask WTF is that:

If it is a green looking meat like substance that is "Mystery meat". Chow down it's very good for you!

If it looks like lumpy burnt oatmeal it's SOS.

If the SOS is poured over a hockey puck...that is a biscuit!

If it is yellow and dry it is cake. Just stick it in a glass of milk, it will be fine.

If it is brown and poured over rice it is chili.....maybe...could be gravy made from left over bacon grease.

    ARE WE CLEAR???

    GOOD!

A premature welcome to "The Club"!

    SSG US Army 73-82
