  1. If you are going for like what most of standard band type, where the bass follow the main chord structure it is easy but if u go like something out of the norm well sort of hahahaha like Mr. Big, Dream Theater, Liquid Tnesion Experiment or even John Pattitucci and Steve Bailey well yeah it gonna be hard and intimidating to practise but start simple and work up through and well you gonna love to be a bass player who can beat the c**p out of other guitar player hahahahhaha. Good luck to u on ur journey of neverending discovery.

  2. a bass and a guitar are 2 different instruments, so they cant really be compared in a sense of which one is harder than the other.

Each guitar has its own techniques and methods of playing. And both of them fulfill different roles within a band.

A lot of people tend to go for a guitar first because they think the bass is a boring instrument. but when you start to listen to some songs and listen to what the bass player is playing, some if it is phenomenal.

    songs to listen to are

    "badge" by  eric clapton (cream)

"Call me Al" by paul simon

"mellowshipslinky in Bmajor" by the red hot chili peppers

    "Sir Duke" by stevie wonder

    "Canned Heat" by jamiroquai

these are just a few examples of great bass lines, and great bass playing.

It really depends on what you want to play. i myself play both, i started learning guitar first and then several years later started playing bass. All the experience of playing guitar certainly helped me learning bass, but learning the bass was like learning a new instrument, there were many techniques and new was of thinking and composing etc to learn.

so i hope this has given you a better idea. if your thinking a bout playing either guitar or bass, you will no doubt at some point pick up

the other and learn to play it. so its just a case of which comes first?

  3. It's morless the same difficulty on both the bigger difference is that bass strings are bigger and the frets have more space between each other so you'll have to develop more finger flexibility

  4. I played guitar.. now I play bass..  in my opinion bass guitar is easy-er.    if you like more of a bassy tone play bass man !  you'll LOVE it!  I personally think that a bass sounds better than a guitar,

  5. I think they're about the same, but bass guitar has only 4 strings while a regular guitar has 6. I've seen people learn bass faster that regular though. personally, I like bass the best. It holds the song together.

  6. Any instrument is as hard or as easy as you want it to be.  On guitar, you could sit there strumming a few cowboy chords, or you could play like Malmsteen.  On bass, you could sit there thumping away on the tonic, or you could do something a little more ambitious, like this guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7oKT6xz-... .  Or anywhere in between.
