  1. Probably the only "negative" that comes to mind is that Farmer's agents normally have a limited contract - and normally have to sell ONLY thru Farmer's (or one of their affiliates.)

They do have perks  that might out weigh this so, it could be an easy way to learn the business.  They will normally assign you to an office for learning purposes and then "cut you loose" into your own office or perhaps to be assigned to a more experienced agent. Some Farmer's agents have been so for MANY years - and some have bailed out to become "independent" agents.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

  2. It's always been a very good idea...

  3. If you believe in what the company does (I've never heard anything bad about them), and you like the way the office you will be working out of works, go for it.

Only you will know if its a good idea or not.

  4. Many farmers are out-standing in their own field.

  5. Do you know anything about insurance?  Can you sell?  If the answer to both those questions are yes, then it's probably a good idea.

  6. Hi.  My brother-in-law is a Farmer's agent.  He sells through farmers as well as some independent insurance that Farmers doesn't offer.

You generally will be set up in your own agency and covered financially by Farmers for the first 2 years while you build your client base.

If there are other agencies in your area - then you will have to deal with competition...if not then you will do better.

Farmers is excellent insurance and an excellent company.
