Someone told me that it's good for you because it makes you pee, so it's cleaning out your liver.

  1. a moderate consumption of beer reduces liver lipid parmeters. On the other hand, beer, like any other alcoholic beverage, has negative long-term effects, including liver diseases.

  2. Beer makes you urinate frequently because it irritates your bladder and alcohol is a diuretic.

No, no alcohol is good for your liver but beer and wine have other proven health benefits (5-7 glasses of red wine a week greatly reduce the risk of prostate cancer).  Alcohol makes your liver work harder.

  3. Ask someone with cirrhosis of the liver?

  4. No, you drink because the liver is evil and must be punished.

  5. Most of any type of alcohol evaporates in your liver and burns and scars it . More than two drinks a day will eventually cause some harm to the liver .

  6. The reason you urinate is because it's a diruetic. It's dehydrating you. Same reason you feel the need to pee when you drink coffee.

It's not good for your liver and causes it to work harder, putting a strain on the ol' thing. Same goes with the kidneys, which are also filters in your body.

Red wine does have fabulous antioxidants called "Resveratrol." However, if you drink too much in one sitting, the alcohol will cancel out the benefits because it causes your body to be put into more strain. This is why they recommend 1-2 glasses a day. They have actually made supplements of Resveratrol, so you can just take a pill to get all the benefits with none of the negatives.
