I've done ballet all my life, but will I still have a chance to be able to skate well?

  1. You can certainly go into skating at any age and be a good skater, and compete. Though you probably won't be going to the Olympics you can still become a great skater!

  2. no its not too late :) unless you have serious Olympic dreams, but ya never know...  i think you have a very good chance of becoming a great ice skater!

I'm 15 too and have been skating for about 10 months. at first i found it a little scary but once you get accustomed to being on the ice then its really awesome :) some people my try to put you down 'cos you're older. don't listen to them. as long as you enjoy what you are doing it doesn't matter what others think. being older can help you to understand things easier, and the ballet training will definitely be a bonus :)

just remember to have tonnes of fun and listen to the instructors (group lessons are great for beginners) and you'll be fine.

    Good Luck, and Happy Skating!!!

P.S: keep in mind that the movie 'Ice Princess', although great for motivation, is a bit unrealistic. i doubt anyone could learn triples in the short amount of time she had...

  3. Prob. if u can already skate pretty well. If u have 2 learn how 2 skate then learn 2 jump & wut ever else they do then prob. too late but if u reallly want to give it a try! Hockeys waaaaaaay better though.

  4. not to late for good, but to late for great. If you started as a kid, you would be competing at this age.

  5. YES,  they start when their like 4

  6. It is never to late :) If you have got motivation and you feel that you will be able to do it then go for it, show everyone your capabilities :)

  7. No, In fact people like you to start young, but some of the best skaters start later. I think it is actually better because you have a better understanding of things. Plus, your ballet training will really give you an advantage! So go for it!!!!!!!! :)

  8. No, you have plenty of time...haven't you ever seen the movie ice princess??

haha, but seriously.  If you train like everyday and work really hard, you could definetely compete by the time you graduate and even go the olympics.  Plus, you already have a lot of ballence and poise from ballet.

    follow your dreams♥

  9. Absolutely not. Knowing ballet definately gives you an advantage with skating, but you're never too old. You might have to work a little harder to catch up with others at your age, but if you work hard enough you could definately get there.

  10. If you haven't done something by the age of 15, you will never do it well.  EVER!! (-:

I'm kidding of course.  Don't worry about age, do whatever you want.
