Is being a Automotive tech a good trade to get into?

I am currently enrolled in wyotech in long beach, and I'm not sure if I'm making the right choice. At first it seemed like a good idea but as i keep researching about automotive techs it seems like alot people dont think its a good trade to get into because they dont make enough money, they pay you a flat rate, if there no work theres no money. Yeah they pay you good at BMW but not alot people can get that job. I'm paying 22k to go to this school and i need to know if this is a good idea. I only have 5 days to decide wheather i want to go to school or not.

I'm really confused someone let me know if I'm making the right choice, because i dont want to end up paying 22k if this is not a good business to get into.

It honestly depends where you go (IE reputable shop, or some run down oil change place) and what you specifically want to do (ie specialization) but skilled trades are always in demand especially automotive.

For example up here in Canada trades people are in such short supply in all fields some provices are offering tuition allowances and lowered costs, as well as companies offering apprenticeship without going to school or any previous experience.

So yes it is  agood job, but just like anything occupation, it depends how hard you try to land a position you want.
