Is being a cox (coxswain)n on a crew/rowing team fun and easy?

im 14 year old girl.

my friend is on the school crew team and wants me to join and be the cox cuz im so small.

im 5 ft. and about 73 pounds.

^^is that the right size for a cox?

I HAVE NEVER DONE CREW B4

my question is...

since i have never done any rowing b4, would i be good at it? im also kinda shy...do you think i would be ok with the yelling? (lol)

and it seems like a BIG responsibility. is it? i would feel terrible...if we lost cuz of me...

please help me out !

  1. I'm training to be coxswain at my school, and it's alot of fun, I think.  I don't think there really is a right size, though.  Sometimes the current is against you and it's a bit hard to keep the oar in the place it needs to be, but aside for that, it's pretty easy.  As for yelling, don't worry about it.  The main part is remembering the commands.  Power ten in 3... 2... 1..., etc.  You also definitely need to know Port from Starboard.  

    In the end, I really like being coxswain.  Whenever I row, it's alot harder since I'm not that strong.  It is sortof a big responsibility, but I haven't been to a race before, so... yeah.  I think you should go for it, and see how you like it.
