  1. I would say it's very respectable.. and you can expect to make anywhere from 40 to 60 thousand on average. That is good money!

Medical Technologists are the people in the lab whho perform all of the analysis of blood, urine, and everything in between.  MTs also learn to run and maintain complex analytical instruments.  MTs are truely at the heart of medicine in the hospital.  My wife and I loved working in hospital labs (I did blood bank and hematology).  You can expect to make about 30-40 K to begin, depending on where you are, and what shift you work.

    Once you have ASCP certification, it also opens the doors to many other types of work, such as biomedical research labs, since your experience is directly relevant.
