  1. yes...working for the national weather service, weather channel, private sectors, and even broadcasting are all hard but they are very good occupations. it takes a lot of hard work, scientific knowledge, and practice to become a good forecaster/meteorologist. Even the meteorologists on tv have to be able to create their own forecast using models and maps.

it really is worth all of the hard work though

  2. Of course it's a hard job! Any good occupation is but, that dosn't mean that you can't become one. with time and dedication you can achive this job and will pay off and in cash too :D! If your looking for the easy way out try and become a areospacing engineer they get paid like a doctor but they work like a teacher if you know what i mean.

  3. For the time and effort to get a PH.D yes its hard. But to present your data based on today's advance computer technology, no you just got to be a good presenter.

  4. If you're working as a forecaster it can be hard for a few reasons:

    1. You may work odd hours, someone has to man the forecast desk in the middle of the night and sometimes it will probably be you.

    2. It is not always easy to make an accurate forecast, so you have to learn to deal with being wrong occasionally and strive to get better at it (it involves a lot of local knowledge).

    3. You will have a lot of responsibility.  Seriously, people's lives and occupations may depend on you making the right forecast, so you have to deal with that.

If you don't mind those things it's a great job.
