Question:

Is being a vegetarian really better for your skin?

I have been a vegetarian since the 4th of July. I have read that not eating meat greatly reduces acne. Is this true? How long will it take for my skin to get better? Why is this? Is it also true that you don't get cramps? Why?

  1. Eating lots of fresh veggies and fruit is apparently very good for the skin.   As far as cramps go...not true.

  2. Since i became a vegetarian, i haven't noticed much difference in my body (besides easily losing access fat), but i've heard that it has many long term benefits.

  3. eating less fat reduces acne, and it´s better not to eat dead animals overall, not just for your face but for the rest of you. If you did notice a difference then probably, yes. cuz all that fat will clog your pores. I´ve been vegan for a few months now, and my cramps are a bit lighter, but I guess it´s different with everyone.

  4. im vegtarian and i dont get camps my skin is nice and smooth skinny like a model and live longer the meat eaters YOUNGER then me

  5. I've was a vegetarian for 2.5 years and didn't notice a difference in my skin until I started eating vegan about two months ago.  I think that eating more vegetables and fruits certainly has a cleansing effect but more importantly, dairy can worsen acne.  Even one of my friends who is not vegetarian notices that if she cuts out dairy in her diet, she notices that her skin clears up.  Researchers seem to think that this is because of the hormones present in milk.  I'd say that you need to wait for more than a week and a half though to see noticeable results - try giving it at least 4 weeks.

As for cramps - everyone is different.  I've never heard of not getting cramps when you become a vegetarian and in my experience, it's not true.

  6. Congrats on becoming a Vegetarian :)

Yes, being a vegetarian can make your skin clearer, but with the right foods. Vegetarians/vegans eat more vegetables and fruits than omnivores, which is good for our skin. (vitamin C & E)

We get lots of vitamin A from dairy, apricots, spinach, and more. If a vegetarian eats too much fries, and other greasy junk foods, then they can end up with bad skin (espcially with all that sugar - which can be bad for skin)

Nuts & Seeds are good also.. so is green tea, berries, olive oil, etc.

Yes, I also heard becoming a vegetarian reduces some cramps. :)

Inorder for this to happen, you need to eat  low-fat foods that are high in fiber.

  7. It depends on the person.

Not eating meat is good for the skin because meat has a constipating effect in digestion.

Thus its hard to breakdown meat in the stomach and digest it.

And whatever is not digested is toxic to the body. And if toxins cannot escape through digestion and when one's defecate, the toxins would try to escape out of the skin making pimples and acne.

    Hope that helps.

But for cramps it would be better to give up dairy because dairy has to many anbiotics that interfere with estrogen.

  8. Congrats on becoming a vegetarian.  I didn't lose weight and most vegans and vegetarians don't.  It isn't a weight loss diet but I have noticed that my skin has never been better.  I never have breakouts now.  Go on meat.com and watch the video then you may want to consider becoming a vegan.  Chickens and dairy cows are the worst treated animals of all.  I guess by cramps you mean your period.  I don't know because I became a vegetarian after having a hysterectomy.  I do know however that dairy can aggravate your period.
