  1. No. There are lots of nutrients that you can get from animal products that you simply can't get with plant-based products.

  2. Only vegs is much better than only meat, but in the end, a balanced diet is the best in my opinion. If you are able to scrape enough of every trace element (which occur in a vast variety of foods, so locking in on one type of food limits your ability to get all trace elements), you can build a robust disease resistant physique. I remember reading that last sentence in my Bio textbook, so its legit.

  3. Actually, yes. Vegetarians live on average seven years longer than meat eaters. You get sick less often. There is a greatly decreased chance of cancer, obesity, and other diseases.

  4. First of all, being vegetarian can lower your risks of cancer and heart disease. Secondly, a vegetarian lifestyle can be just as healthy as a non-vegetarian one if you have enough knowledge about it. You may live longer as a vegetarian, but living longer depends on your background.

  5. well it depends on what kind of foods you eat! i sudgest the "raw" diet :)

  6. You should really talk to a doctor or physician. You will get alot less variety of nutrients unless you supliment each one with a vitamin or meat alternative, youd better like peanuts, soy milk and tofu.

  7. Some good stuff on vegetarian diet:

You need to eat wisely. It is better comparatively with meat diet.  How long does a person lives, depend on their lifestyle, gene, any accidents, any sickness prior etc.

  8. it does reverse heart disease, but there is never a garentee that you will live longer. a vegetarian diet is healthier because:

    - meat contains a lot of fat

    - the animals killed for the meat were probably drugged

    - meat can cause heart disease

    - a vegetarian diet reverses heart disease

    - there is no law that says that they animals killed for the food have to be healthy. mad caw diesase is in the united states (i dont know if you live here) and in many other countries. people can get seriously sick from unhealthy meat.

hope this makes you think about and consider a meat free diet! : )

  9. Being a vegetarian is very healthy. Studies show that little or not meat in your diet can have a great impact on your body, in a good way, of course :) However being a vegetarian does not guarantee you a longer life.

Here's what the American Dietetic Association has to say about it:

“Vegetarian diets offer a number of nutritional benefits, including lower levels of saturated fat, cholesterol, and animal protein, as well as higher levels of carbohydrates, fiber, magnesium, potassium, folate, and antioxidants such as vitamins C and E and phytochemicals. Vegetarians have been reported to have lower body mass indices than nonvegetarians, as well as lower rates of death from ischemic heart disease; vegetarians also show lower blood cholesterol levels; lower blood pressure; and lower rates of hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and prostate and colon cancer.”

--American Dietetic Association, June 2003 position paper

Also a major study published in February 2005 reconfirmed the link between meat consumption and heart problems. The study, which was published in the American Journal of Epidemiology, concluded that among the 29,000 participants, those who ate the most meat were also at the greatest risk for heart disease. The researchers also reported that a high intake of protein from vegetable sources like tofu, nuts, and beans lowers our risk of heart disease by 30 percent. Dr. Linda E. Kelemen, the scientist who headed the study, told reporters, “Not all proteins are equal”—while vegetable protein can help keep our hearts healthy, eating animal protein can put us at risk for heart disease.

    Hope I helped :)

  10. Being a vegetarian can be healthy. If you are a vegetarian who still eats and drinks dairy products it may not be good since dairy products causes a lot of health problems and diseases. But compared to animal eaters, of course eating vegetarian is way healthier and studs and statistics have proven they live longer compared to animal eaters. And your body does get in better condition if you are eating the correct foods and treating your body good (i.e exercise, get enough sleep, no drugs etc). It does affect how you live positive way.
