Is being diabetic related to liver problems?

i have symptoms of a diabetic but haven't done anything about it/never been treated and for the past few years had a burning pain under my right shoulder blade (which i read might have to do with liver problems).

do u think my 2 problems have to do with each other or are they 2 seperate issues?

  1. It can be.  the liver stores sugar which is "dumped" into the blood stream as needed.

Diabetes affects EVERYTHING.  So you need to check with your doctor to make sure.

if you are having symptoms of diabetes, why aren't you being checked and treated if needed.  Don't you know that uncontrolled diabetes causes high blood pressure and high chiolesterol?  Both of these cause heart attacks, stokes, and the inability to enjoy s*x (both men and women)

Diabetes casues blindness and amputation.  It causes chronic diarrhea and chronic constipation. It destroys your kidneys and leads to dialysis.

And in your case, it might be destrying your liver.

get youself to a doctor NOW.

  2. If you really want to know, make an appointment with your doctor for a complete Physical Exam with blood draws, both CBC and Lipids. The blood draw will tell the doctor what is going on with your body, buth the HbA1c and the Bilirubin numbers.

What? you want to join our ancestors in having feet cut off and going into dialysis every day?? They didn't have the choices we have today of living to be about 99 with very few complications of high glucose numbers.

  3. There have been suggestions (small studies) that there may be a connection between liver disease and diabetes but there is no concrete evidence to prove or disprove that.

However there are a number of oral diabetic medications (Metformin is one) along with other non-diabetic medications that are known to have an adverse effect on patients with known liver issues.

By the way the liver is located under the right rib cage, not the shoulder blade so the pain your experiencing probably has nothing to do with the liver.
