It can be. Independent people can do everything for them selves and don't really need anyone for anything, which makes it hard to be around them because everyone needs to be needed.

It depends on the definition of "too independent" opposed to highly independent.

I have become highly independent since my mum died before I returned to uni to finish my undergraduate work. I love my God parents and family, but seldom find myself asking for anything.

I like not depending on anyone when I can do for myself. The main thing is to be warm and loving with those that matter, but to realise ones own worth and abilities.

I guess it can be sometimes. I am very independent because in the past I have had to be that way, plus I feel safer depending on myself. But with my second husband, after 15 yrs of marriage and our subsequent divorce, one thing he told me was that my independence always bothered him because I never let him "take care of me". Blah, Blah, Blah.

Just don't use it as an excuse for rudeness or other inconsiderate behaviour and nobody will say a word against your independence.

Of course, I think men like us to be a little dependent on them...makes them feel good about themselves.
